Katy: My party time is usually a dinner party with friends. I couldn't give a f**k about going to clubs. I want to drink really good wine and really good beer, because I like really good wine and really good beer.
Katy: (revealing her high tolerance for alcohol) I can drink eight beers and feel fine the next day. I usually drink dark beer because I hate hangovers, and I can't drink and work in the same schedule.
Katy: I'm really critical of my posture, it makes a big difference. And I try to suck my belly in. Everyone should do that whether you're on a red carpet or not. Even if you're just going out to dinner with your boyfriend you should try and suck it in.
Katy: I think there's a fine line between being a slut and being classy. I walk in between that line.
Katy: Santa Barbara is my hood. I mean, it's not much of a hood, but it is definitely like my hood. I claim Santa Barbara like I claim my family?-?I'm going to be married and buried there.
Katy: When I first started at 17 in Los Angeles, the hit song was 'Complicated', and everyone wanted me to write a 'Complicated', I'm like, look that's Avril, this is me. Everybody loves that song - hopefully everyone will love my song.
Katy: My personality is up and down, sassy and cheeky.
Katy: I really like to look like a history book. I can look 1940s, I can look 1970s hippie-chic, or sometimes I'll pull that '80s Brooklyn hip-hop kid with the door-knocker earrings.
Katy: ( After controversy over her song 'Ur So Gay' )It's not a negative connotation. It's not 'you're so gay', like 'you're so lame', but the fact of the matter is that this boy should've been gay. I was talking about ex-boyfriends.
Katy: I know sometimes if I don't think about what I do or think about the things I say, then I'll just ruin it for everybody and keep giving that stereotype of teens-that they're irresponsible and not doing anything with their lives.
Katy: I wasn't allowed to listen to secular music when I was a kid, but there was a time when I was hanging out at my friend's house. We're trying on all our outfits, like girls do, and out of nowhere I heard the lyrics to 'Killer Queen.' Time stood still. The music was totally different from anything I'd heard. I still love Freddie Mercury. He was flamboyant with a twist of the operatic, but more importantly, he just didn't give a f---.
Katy: If people want a role model, they can have Miley Cyrus!
Katy: (about her parents' strict rules from when she was a teenager) That's my parents. They're crazy! They're nuts!
Katy: (about her father encouraging her to sing) My dad would give me $10, which is a lot of money when you're 9, to sing at church, on tables at restaurants, at family functions, just about anywhere.
Katy: I've done a lot of bad things. Use your imagination.
Katy: I got this Jesus tattoo on my wrist when I was 18 because I know that it's always going to be a part of me. When I'm playing, it's staring right back at me, saying, 'Remember where you came from.'
Katy: (Revealing she once had a drinking problem while waiting for her career to take off) It was really difficult, drinking became a problem. It got out of control until I said, 'OK - back to work.' I know I'm speaking for someone, even if it is someone silly.
Katy: (following her single 'I Kissed a Girl') Girls now keep asking for a kiss. After every show on my tour I stay behind to do an autograph signing. But about a dozen women will want a snog. I just sweetly say, 'No, thank you'. If I kissed everybody who asked I'd probably go away with something I don't really want.
Katy: (When she found a Queen record) The heavens opened and saved me. From then on, they have been my biggest influence.
Katy:(On what separates her from other female artists) I want to push the envelope and I want to do something different and exciting and make people, keep them on their toes at all times.
Katy: I think people appreciate a songwriter who shows different sides. The whole angst thing is cool, but if that's all you've got, it's just boring. Everything I write, whether it's happy or sad, has a sense of humor to it.
